Focus:
The Body Image Scale (BIS) measures psychological distress and body image concerns in patients with cancer, particularly those undergoing treatments that affect physical appearance.
Relevant Survey:
- Body Part: General (appearance-related, not limited to one body part)
 - Area Of Focus: Body Image Disturbance, Psychosocial Impact, Cancer Treatment Outcomes

The BIS is a validated PROM designed for oncology patients to assess the emotional and social effects of altered body image.
Description:
The BIS was developed to evaluate body image concerns among cancer patients, especially those treated for breast cancer or other conditions that affect appearance. It covers domains such as self-consciousness, dissatisfaction, and avoidance behaviors. Higher scores indicate greater body image disturbance. The BIS is widely used in psycho-oncology research and survivorship care.
Use Cases:
- Assessing body image concerns in breast cancer survivors.
 - Evaluating psychosocial impact of reconstructive or cosmetic procedures.
